Slight Increase Compared to This Year... Submitted to County Council
Focus on Ongoing Projects and Resident Petitions
Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 23rd that it has prepared the 2024 main budget at 633.1 billion KRW and submitted it to the Sancheong County Council.
This amount is an increase of 900 million KRW (0.14%) compared to this year's budget, aimed at the smooth promotion of current projects and resident-requested projects during the 8th term of the elected government.
The 2024 main budget was prepared and submitted at a scale similar to this year’s due to the local fiscal tightening trend and soundness reinforcement caused by the government’s national tax revenue shortfall.
Budgets related to water supply and sewage as well as basic living security, which are closely connected to residents' lives, were increased compared to this year. The general account was prepared at 583.6 billion KRW, a decrease of 2.3 billion KRW from this year, while the special account increased by 3.2 billion KRW to 49.5 billion KRW.
The budget size by major sectors is ▲Agriculture, Forestry, and Marine Fisheries sector at 157 billion KRW, accounting for the largest share. Also, ▲Social Welfare sector at 117 billion KRW, and ▲Public Order and Safety sector at 16.6 billion KRW.
By sector, the Agriculture, Forestry, and Marine Fisheries budget includes 8 billion KRW for supporting farmers' income increase and livelihood stabilization, and 5 billion KRW for income support of forest products. The Social Welfare sector reflects 13.5 billion KRW for national basic living security and 15.3 billion KRW for building welfare support infrastructure.
The Public Order and Safety sector allocated 10.1 billion KRW for comprehensive management of prevention measures and disaster prevention projects.
The budget proposal submitted by Sancheong-gun for the next year will be presented at the 294th Sancheong County Council’s 2nd regular session, reviewed by the Budget and Accounts Special Committee, and finalized by resolution in the plenary session.
County Governor Lee Seung-hwa said, “Despite difficult financial conditions due to local fiscal tightening, we prepared the budget focusing on projects essential for residents,” adding, “We will devote all efforts to promoting projects for the future of the county to provide administration that resonates with the residents.”
