Carrying on the Lifeline of Traditional Korean Crafts
Yoo In-chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, visited the '2023 Jinju Traditional Craft Biennale' held at the Railroad Culture Park on the afternoon of the 22nd.
On that day, Minister Yoo toured the exhibition hall under the guidance of Mayor Cho Gyu-il and Artistic Director Cho Il-sang, viewing major works by Jinju somok artisans.
Yoo In-chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is viewing the Jinju Traditional Craft Biennale being held at the Railroad Culture Park.
Minister Yoo said, "The works at the Jinju Traditional Craft Biennale are both traditional and modern. The patterns of somok are naturally beautiful," appreciating the works that continue the lifeblood of traditional crafts. He also stated, "The Jinju Traditional Craft Biennale is a treasure of Jinju, and Jinju City is a culturally well-prepared city."
Now in its second year, the Jinju Traditional Craft Biennale, themed "Crafts of Today, Traditions of Tomorrow," showcases traditional crafts by 37 domestic artists and artists from 10 cities in 9 overseas countries. It has been held since last month on the 1st and will continue until December 10th at the vehicle maintenance depot within Jinju Railroad Culture Park.
