Goseong-gun Women's Association and Goseong-gun Family Center Hold 'Kimjang Kimchi Sharing Event'

Goseong-gun Women's Association and Goseong-gun Family Center held the '2023 Kimchi Making Sharing Event Filled with Love' for three days from the 20th to the 22nd.

Goseong-gun Women's Association and Goseong-gun Family Center Hold 'Kimjang Kimchi Sharing Event' County Governor Sang-geun Lee participated in the kimchi-making sharing event held by the Goseong County Women's Association and the Goseong County Family Center.

This event was organized to help bridge cultural gaps by having mentees, who are marriage immigrant women, learn to make kimchi, a traditional Korean dish, directly from mentors who are members of the Women's Association. About 50 participants, including members of the Goseong-gun Women's Association and marriage immigrant women, took part. The goal was to support marriage immigrant women to adapt stably to Korean society as volunteers rather than recipients and to practice sharing with multicultural families in blind spots.

Kim, a marriage immigrant woman who participated in the event, said, "While living in Korea, I missed my family back home a lot, but learning to cook felt like learning from my own mother, which warmed my heart."

Kim Myung-ok, president of the Goseong-gun Women's Association and representative of the Goseong-gun Family Center, said, "I hope marriage immigrant women can understand Korean culture more easily and familiarly through mentors," adding, "We will continue to create opportunities for communication through ongoing meetings to help marriage immigrant women adapt well and live together in the local community."

Meanwhile, on the first day of the kimchi making event on the 20th, the Barugesalgi Movement Goseong-gun Council and Barugesalgi Movement Goseong-gun Women's Volunteer Association collaborated with the Barugesalgi Movement Gyeongsangnam-do Council and Barugesalgi Movement Geoje City Council to support the 'Love Meal Truck with Residents,' adding vitality to the event.

Additionally, the event was selected for the '2023 Kimchi Making, Only with Handon' social contribution project led by the Handon Self-Governing Fund, receiving 12 kg of pork for boiled pork, which was generously provided along with the kimchi to beneficiary households.
