Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) announced on the 22nd that it held the 2023 Child Abuse Prevention Project, "Our Child Together Protection Campaign," on the 17th at the Jeongneung 2-dong Traffic Square for Seongbuk residents and children and adolescents.
The campaign was organized by the Seongbuk-gu Office's Child and Youth Division, with participation from Seongbuk Police Station, Jongam Police Station, Seongbuk Youth Sexual Counseling Center, Seongbuk Youth Counseling and Welfare Center, Seongbuk-gu Child Protection Agency, and Seongbuk-gu Dream Start, forming a public-private partnership to protect children’s dreams, health, happiness, and safety.
The child abuse campaign featured promotional booths for raising awareness of child abuse, learning positive parenting practices, and a child abuse true or false quiz. It also included a two-shot photo zone, Christmas tree keychain decorating, and a DIY marimo growing experience booth, providing opportunities for communication between children and adults to improve awareness of child abuse.
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, said, “I hope this child abuse prevention campaign becomes a happy and positive communication opportunity for parents and children together. We will continue to operate various child abuse prevention projects to create a safe and happy Seongbuk-gu free from child abuse.”
Since October 2020, Seongbuk-gu has been publicizing child abuse investigation duties and maintaining a 24/7 child abuse reporting system. In addition to on-site investigations, it has been directly operating a specialized child protection agency for abused children and their families since November 2022. Seongbuk-gu explained that it continues to strive for citizen awareness improvement projects such as preventing recurrence of child abuse, follow-up management, and abuse prevention education within the child protection system.
