Escalator at Nokcheon Station in Dobong-gu to Open in May Next Year

Escalators will be installed at Exit 1 (upbound platform 1) and Exit 3 (one each for upbound and downbound platforms) of Nokcheon Station in Dobong-gu.

This is expected to greatly improve the inconvenience faced by transportation-vulnerable individuals who had to use steep stairs until now.

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced on the 21st that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Nokcheon Station escalators with Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) and started construction aiming for completion in May next year.

Nokcheon Station, which has been in operation since 1985, consists of four exits and three elevators. When elevators are out of service, users such as pregnant women and people with disabilities had to use stairs, causing inconvenience.

Accordingly, the district signed an agreement with Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) to install escalators at Exits 1 and 2, and proceeded with basic and detailed designs. During this process, it was confirmed that a large sewage box was buried beneath the planned installation site at Exit 2, so the district additionally reflected the project budget this year to expand the installation scale and changed the location to Exit 3.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "I hope this escalator installation will enhance the convenience of all residents using Nokcheon Station. We will continue to carefully ensure that residents can use the station comfortably and conveniently."
