Yeongdeok-gun Honored with Grand Prize in Gyeongbuk Province Volunteer City and County Evaluation

Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, received the grand prize at the 2023 Gyeongbuk Volunteer Conference held on the 15th at the Cheongdo-gun National Sports Center.

Gyeongbuk Province evaluates outstanding cities and counties annually by combining quantitative and qualitative indicators to promote volunteer activities and awards local governments with excellent performance.

This year, Yeongdeok-gun was honored as the top city/county in the local government evaluation for its outstanding performance in areas such as volunteer participation rate, promotion of volunteer activation, public officials’ volunteer activities, and environmental protection projects linked with university student volunteer groups.

This is the third time Yeongdeok-gun has received the grand prize in the Gyeongbuk Province volunteer excellence evaluation, following 2016 and 2019. Together with the Yeongdeok-gun Comprehensive Volunteer Center (Director Kwon Yong-geol), the county has been actively promoting volunteer activation projects such as volunteer recruitment, volunteer linkage support projects, creating happy volunteer villages, and volunteer fairs, setting a model example.

In particular, Yeongdeok-gun has consistently strived to solve community problems and strengthen cooperation among local governments through volunteer activities, including proactively dispatching volunteers to disaster and accident sites within Gyeongbuk Province.

County Governor Kim Kwang-yeol expressed, “Each volunteer who practices sharing with love and passion in unseen places is the main contributor to making our region a better and more beautiful place to live,” adding, “We will further promote volunteering, the foundation of a bright society, and support volunteers so they can passionately care for and assist their neighbors.”
