Cheongsong-gun Submits 474.5 Billion KRW Next Year's Main Budget Proposal to County Council

Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, has prepared the 2024 budget at 474.5 billion KRW, an increase of 8.5 billion KRW (1.82%) compared to the 2023 main budget, and submitted it to the Cheongsong-gun Council on the 21st.

Looking at the 2024 main budget by account, the general account increased by 13.611 billion KRW (3.17%) from this year to 442.581 billion KRW, while other special accounts decreased by 5.111 billion KRW (13.8%) to 31.919 billion KRW. Revenue sources are divided into local tax income of 19.7 billion KRW, non-tax revenue of 17.3 billion KRW, local allocation tax of 248 billion KRW, adjustment grants of 6.2 billion KRW, national and provincial subsidies of 154.7 billion KRW, and compensation income, etc., of 28.6 billion KRW.


By sector, the expenditure budget size is largest in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries at 104.4 billion KRW (22.01%), followed by social welfare at 92.8 billion KRW, environment at 56.1 billion KRW, culture and tourism at 36.3 billion KRW, general public administration and education at 33.6 billion KRW, land and regional development and transportation and logistics at 30.2 billion KRW, public order and safety at 21.4 billion KRW, industry, small and medium enterprises, and energy at 20.8 billion KRW, health at 14.1 billion KRW, administrative operating expenses including personnel costs at 57.4 billion KRW, and contingency funds at 7.4 billion KRW.


Major projects in the agricultural sector include the Farmers’ Allowance Support Project with 4 billion KRW, Crop Disaster Insurance Premium Support with 12.1 billion KRW, Orchard Micro-sprinkler Device Support with 3.4 billion KRW, Gyeongbuk Apple Future Orchard Creation Project with 2.5 billion KRW, High-quality Modernization of Fruit Trees Project with 4.1 billion KRW, Agricultural Product Delivery Fee Support Project with 1 billion KRW, Public Interest Promotion Direct Payment System with 12.8 billion KRW, and Crop Pest and Disease Control Support with 1.5 billion KRW, focusing on strengthening agricultural competitiveness.


Additionally, welfare and health budgets include 7.4 billion KRW for basic livelihood security recipients’ living allowances, 32.1 billion KRW for basic pension support, 16.3 billion KRW for senior citizen job projects, 0.5 billion KRW for senior bathing support, 0.5 billion KRW for purchasing shingles vaccination vaccines, and 4.7 billion KRW for outsourcing medical center clinical services to the private sector, aiming to improve welfare for vulnerable groups and the elderly as well as the health and welfare of residents.


Furthermore, safety-related projects include 7.7 billion KRW for natural disaster risk improvement district maintenance, 4.7 billion KRW for small stream maintenance projects, 3.9 billion KRW for steep slope collapse risk area maintenance, 2 billion KRW for aging water supply system maintenance, 6 billion KRW for Andeok (Hyeonseo) and Bunam water supply facility expansion, 3 billion KRW for establishing an emergency supply network for local waterworks, and 3.5 billion KRW for rural village sewage system maintenance, showing a strong commitment to regional safety. For regional development, 5 billion KRW is allocated for the Cheongsong public rental housing youth village construction project, 3.4 billion KRW for the Jinbo-myeon LG pipeline network construction project, and 5.9 billion KRW for undergrounding power lines in Hyeonseo-myeon and Andeok-myeon.


Governor Yoon Kyung-hee stated, “We have worked hard to prepare a budget that is essential for the development of Cheongsong-gun through selection and concentration,” adding, “We will do our best to recover the local economy, which has been difficult due to high interest rates and high prices, and to promote the future development of Cheongsong-gun.”
