Suwon University Makerspace to Host 'Manufacturing Startup Forum' on the 28th

Suwon University (President Lim Kyung-sook) Makerspace ‘WoW! Makers’ will hold the “2023 WoW! Makers Manufacturing Startup Forum” on the 28th at the Sapphire Hall of Prumir Hotel.

This forum, hosted and organized by Suwon University Makerspace ‘WoW! Makers,’ has been held annually since 2022 as part of a platform to discover and support startup opportunities centered on manufacturing and technological innovation.

At the forum, △ results presentation and prototype exhibition of the prototype production support project (in collaboration with Hwaseong Industry Promotion Agency) △ presentation of makerspace operation and performance management plans △ discussions on collaboration among local institutions and next year’s business plans will take place. Additionally, through networking among local makerspace institutions, the forum aims to prevent program duplication, develop collaborative programs, improve equipment utilization rates, share best practices to enhance operations, and propose improvements to startup-related policies.

Suwon University Makerspace ‘WoW! Makers’ conducted a prototype production support project with Hwaseong Industry Promotion Agency this year, supporting prototype production for 10 companies, and carried out the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education’s “Digital-based Creative Convergence Experience Basic Program,” educating about 250 local elementary and middle school students. It also serves as a regional hub makerspace by operating woodworking experience classes for North Korean defectors invited during the Hwaseong City Tour conducted by Hwaseong City.

Professor Ahn Chang-joo, head of Suwon University Makerspace Center, said, “WoW! Makers has established facilities and professional personnel for prototype and pilot production mold manufacturing for manufacturing startup startups,” adding, “We will actively support the successful market entry of manufacturing startups and manufacturing innovation companies linked with local industries.”
