Among 757 Citizen Proposals, 'Hamo Su' Selected as the Top-Rated Tap Water Brand Name
Jinju City in Gyeongnam held an award ceremony on the 20th after finalizing the winning entry of the Jinju tap water brand name contest as ‘Hamo Su’ to effectively promote clean and safe Jinju tap water.
Since September, the city received 757 submissions for the Jinju tap water brand name contest, and among them, ‘Hamo Su’ received the highest score in the citizen preference survey and was selected as the grand prize winner.
The awarded works were ▲Grand Prize: Hamo Su (1,000,000 KRW) ▲Excellence Prize: Namgang Su and Hamo Sarang Su (each 500,000 KRW) ▲Encouragement Prize: Enasu and 5 others (each 100,000 KRW) ▲Effort Prize: Namgang Nonggae Su and 9 others (each 50,000 KRW), with Jinju Mayor’s awards and prize money given.
The grand prize winner ‘Hamo Su’ means “Jinju’s tap water is Hamo! Yes~ indeed~ it strongly conveys the meaning of water that is truly clean and good, full of positive trust, and it was the most chosen by citizens because it can enhance brand value together with Jinju’s tourism character Hamo.”
On the day, 17 awardees including Choi Hanna from Naedong-myeon, who proposed the grand prize winner ‘Hamo Su,’ completed the award ceremony and visited the Panmun-dong No. 2 Water Purification Plant to observe the clean Jinju tap water production process.
In the future, Jinju City plans to develop a water logo design and character for the winning entry ‘Hamo Su,’ register the trademark and service mark with the Korean Intellectual Property Office, and use it to promote Jinju tap water.
Mayor Jo Gyu-il said, “With the brand ‘Hamo Su,’ which citizens participated in and chose, we will manage Jinju tap water even more cleanly and safely, and strive to make it the nation’s top premium tap water.”
