A famous American influencer revealed a story about nearly losing her life after burning scented candles and sleeping at night. Since scented candles emit harmful substances such as carbon monoxide, caution is necessary when using them.

She said she lit five scented candles in her bedroom and went to bed, but then felt her body was acting strangely. Moore explained the situation at the time, saying, "As soon as I got out of bed, my heart was beating extremely fast, so I went straight to the hospital," and "It felt like all my bodily functions were shaking."

She added, "I couldn't remember what I had just said and eventually experienced speech paralysis," and "I saw double, and also had chest pain and dizziness."

The medical staff diagnosed Moore with symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning and prescribed an oxygen supply. Fortunately, Moore was able to recover after resting. The video sharing Moore's experience became a hot topic on TikTok, recording 850,000 views.

Scented candles are made from paraffin, a petroleum derivative, and synthetic fragrances. Because of this, they emit various harmful substances including carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide is colorless and odorless, making it difficult to detect its presence in the air, and prolonged exposure can be life-threatening.

Therefore, scented candles should not be burned in enclosed spaces, and the room must be ventilated after using scented candles. Also, avoid burning too many scented candles at once.
