Three Cases Identifying Nam Hyun-hee's Accomplices, Damage Amounting to Over 1 Billion Won
Jeon Cheong-jo (27), who was known as the remarriage partner of former national fencing representative Nam Hyun-hee (42), continues to face accusations even after being sent to the prosecution in custody. So far, a total of 28 cases have been filed, with Nam named as an accomplice in 3 of them.
According to the police on the 21st, the number of complaints and accusations against Jeon, including fraud charges, was 17 as of the 13th, but it has increased to 25 as of this day, a week later. The police have identified 30 victims, with damages amounting to about 3.5 billion won. The cases in which Nam is accused as an accomplice number 3, with damages totaling around 1 billion won. A police official stated, "We are conducting a thorough forensic analysis of the mobile phone submitted to verify Nam's involvement," adding, "The conclusion regarding Nam's participation in the crime will be reached through investigation." Jeon and Nam underwent their first confrontation investigation on the 8th, but additional summons for Nam and further confrontations between both parties have not yet taken place. Jeon was sent to prosecution in custody on the 10th on charges including fraud.
On the 17th, a woman A, whom Jeon called "Mom," filed a complaint against Jeon, Nam, and Nam's ex-husband, claiming she was defrauded of 370 million won. Jeon is suspected of approaching A in March last year with the request to "become a mother," then embezzling money under the pretexts of paying security guards' wages and handling car accident costs. Kim Min-seok, a member of the Seoul Gangseo District Council who is assisting victims in filing complaints related to Jeon and Nam, stated, "There is evidence that Jeon received large sums of money from A into a borrowed-name account, and that money flowed from that account to Nam's account, so the investigation should determine whether they were accomplices."

Earlier, on the 16th, a man in his 20s, B, and others filed a complaint accusing Nam of aiding and abetting fraud. B was approached by Jeon with a proposal to develop an application (app) and invested about 200 million won but failed to recover the investment. The complaint stated that Nam also attended meetings related to the app investment, implying that "Jeon and Nam are an economic community." Previously, a professional couple who were defrauded of more than 1.1 billion won by Jeon also accused Nam as an accomplice.
Nam denies all suspicions of being an accomplice, claiming she was unaware of the source of the money received from Jeon. Nam's lawyer said, "Jeon carried out a fraud scheme by winning favor through an overwhelming volume offensive and deceiving people into thinking they were married. Especially, Jeon targeted wealthy victims around Nam, who is famous," adding, "Jeon made sure that those who invested in her never told Nam about the investment. Security guards monitored Nam's every move, and the victims did not say a word about the investment under Jeon's instructions."
