Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, will hold the last Uljin-gun Good Morning Thursday Special Lecture of 2023 in the county office's large conference room on the 23rd.
The Uljin-gun Good Morning Thursday Special Lecture selects one topic each month and invites experts from various fields to study on Thursday mornings. It is held for 90 minutes from 7:20 a.m., targeting both residents and employees.
On the 23rd, Professor Lee Won-tae from the Department of Environmental Engineering at Kumoh National Institute of Technology will give a lecture titled "The Present of Climate Change and the Future of Uljin," covering the current status of climate change in Uljin-gun, changes in existing systems according to carbon neutrality policy trends, and strategies and directions for Uljin's future.
As part of the Uljin Nuclear Hydrogen Industry Promotion Plan, the lecture was selected as the last special lecture of the year to help residents and public officials understand the Net Zero City (carbon-neutral city) being promoted and to share the county’s direction toward becoming a Net Zero City.
Before the lecture, County Governor Son Byung-bok said, “I hope this will be a meaningful time for everyone attending the lecture to learn about the relationship between climate change and carbon neutrality, domestic and international trends, and to think about why Uljin-gun must move toward becoming a Net Zero City.”
The Uljin-gun Good Morning Thursday Special Lecture project began in March 2023 to improve awareness and seek changes in Uljin-gun through joint study by the public and private sectors. Fourteen lectures have been held across all fields including agriculture, tourism, urban planning, disaster management, humanities, energy, fisheries, forestry, and welfare.
In 2024, the lectures, which were previously held in the morning, will be renewed and moved to the afternoon to allow wider participation from interested residents and employees, promising even more substantial lectures.
