Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun Proposes "Forming a Policy Research Group" to the City Council

Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun is attending the Suwon City Council on the 20th and delivering the 2024 Suwon City Administration speech.

Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun proposed to the Suwon City Council to "form a policy research group involving both the council and the administration."

In his 2024 municipal administration speech on the 20th, Mayor Lee emphasized, "Just as there is no ruling or opposition in the lives of citizens, let us put aside factional logic and political standards," and urged, "Let us jointly research and discuss policies and projects directly related to improving citizens' lives."

He continued, "Starting with policy research related to securing substantial authority, let us create a model case of a genuine ‘policy cooperation body,’" and requested, "In the ‘Collaborative Policy Research Group,’ let us contemplate the future of Suwon together, pool our wisdom, and move forward with cooperation that truly benefits the citizens."

In particular, he explained, "With local income tax hit by the global economy and semiconductor industry downturn, and property tax expected to shrink significantly due to high interest rates and the government's real estate tax reduction policies, 2024 is anticipated to be the worst fiscal crisis in Suwon's history," adding, "To face this fiscal crisis with a resolute spirit, Suwon has set next year's fiscal management principle as ‘maximizing efficiency.’"

The total size of Suwon City's main budget for next year is 3.0741 trillion won. The general account is 2.7729 trillion won, an increase of 25.2 billion won compared to this year, while the public enterprise and special accounts amount to 301.2 billion won, a decrease of 23.1 billion won.

Mayor Lee presented the core policy directions for Suwon next year as ▲ striving further to become a vibrant economic city ▲ implementing stronger welfare in an era where vulnerable groups face greater crises ▲ developing Suwon into a cultural capital in the world ▲ creating Suwon as a ‘1-minute city for all.’

Mayor Lee promised, "We will nurture Suwon into a city that realizes the hopes and aspirations of its citizens, a city full of sharing and consideration, a ‘new city, beyond Suwon,’" and pledged, "We will always listen and communicate from the citizens' perspective."
