Samsung Changwon Hospital and Masan Medical Center Sign Agreement for Hospice Palliative Care Advancement

Efforts to Improve Quality of Life for Terminal Cancer Patients and Families through Mutual Medical Referrals and Cooperation

Sungkyunkwan University Samsung Changwon Hospital signed a hospice palliative care cooperation agreement with Masan Medical Center on the 20th.

Through this agreement, the hospice palliative care team at Samsung Changwon Hospital and the hospice palliative care ward at Masan Medical Center will work together to improve the quality of life for terminal cancer patients and their families, and to contribute to the development of regional hospice palliative care.


Hospice palliative care is a holistic medical service provided by a specialized palliative care team consisting of doctors, nurses, social workers, and others, which helps terminal cancer patients with physical symptoms such as pain, as well as the psychological, social, and spiritual difficulties faced by patients and their families.


Director Ko Gwang-cheol of Samsung Changwon Hospital stated, “Through cooperation with Masan Medical Center, a leading public medical institution in the Gyeongnam region, we will continue to fulfill our role as a tertiary general hospital by contributing to the development of regional healthcare, including improving the quality of life for terminal patients in the area.”


Following this, Director Kim Jin-pyeong of Masan Medical Center said, “With this agreement with Samsung Changwon Hospital, which has an excellent hospice palliative care team, we expect the utilization rate of hospice services in the region to increase further. We will do our best to ensure that terminal cancer patients can conclude their lives with dignity through appropriate and professional treatment.”


Meanwhile, both institutions agreed to promote mutual development through ▲ mutual referral of hospice palliative care patients ▲ cooperation in other necessary areas.
