Discussion on Economic Cooperation Opportunities with the Latin America Region and Others
The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) held the 27th Korea-Latin America Business Forum on the 20th at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul, jointly with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Korea-Latin America Association, the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, and the Overseas Construction Association.
The event was attended by Kim Gohyun, Executive Director of KITA; Han Byunggil, President of the Korea-Latin America Association; Park Deokyeol, Investment Policy Officer of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy; Lee Kwonhyung, Director of the World Regional Research Center at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy; Choi Junho, Counselor of the Latin America Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; as well as over 200 businesspeople entering the Latin American market, and Latin American diplomatic envoys including Atanasio Kosmas Sipaki, Ambassador of Panama to Korea.

In his welcoming remarks, Executive Director Kim Gohyun said, "Recently, our companies' investments in the joint development of natural resources in Latin America have greatly expanded," adding, "Through various startup support policies in Latin American countries, the regional startup ecosystem is rapidly growing, raising expectations for the expansion of domestic startups into the Latin American market." He also stated, "KITA will actively support companies' entry into the Latin American market by holding information seminars and more."
Ambassador Sipaki of Panama to Korea said in his congratulatory speech, "Latin American countries seek to acquire knowledge and experience of Korea's digital and technological innovations through investment attraction from Korea," adding, "Through this, it is expected that the region can effectively respond to food security and climate change issues while promoting the development of advanced industries such as semiconductors and medical fields."
At the forum, presentations were made on ▲economic cooperation opportunities with the Latin American region ▲strategies and cases for small and medium-sized enterprises entering Latin America ▲Korea-Latin America cooperation in construction, plant, and resource sectors. Seminar participants also had one-on-one consultations with experts from the KITA FTA Comprehensive Support Center on FTA utilization, intellectual property rights, and overseas certification.
