Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City is making every effort to expand the number of youth jobs by attracting a large number of youth recruiting companies to the job fair to be held on the 23rd and increasing the number of youth jobs.
In particular, to support youth employment, since this year, Nam-gu has established a public-academic cooperation system with the Gwangju University LINC3.0 Project Group and started discovering recruiting companies for young job seekers, making this year’s fair more youthful in tone compared to last year.
According to Nam-gu on the 20th, the 2023 Nam-gu Job Fair will be held from 2 p.m. on the 23rd at the Gwangju University Gymnasium.
The characteristics of this year’s fair include an increase in the number of companies hiring employees and the scale of recruitment not only on-site but also through bulletin boards, and the prioritization of companies hiring young employees on-site through industry diversification.
First, at this year’s on-site recruitment hall, 17 companies will hire 121 people. Compared to last year, the number of participating companies increased by two, and the number of recruits increased by 16.
The industries of youth recruiting companies have also diversified. Last year, they were mainly manufacturing and service industries, but this year they have expanded to healthcare, medical, IT sectors, service, and manufacturing fields.
The industries that young job seekers should pay attention to are six healthcare companies and four IT companies, which plan to hire 53 and 5 to 6 people respectively.
Also, four service industry companies and three manufacturing companies are expected to hire 38 and 24 people respectively.
The number of indirect recruiting companies has greatly increased from 60 last year to 70 this year, planning to hire 142 employees.
There are various companies ranging from those hiring 8 to 10 employees to those preferring experienced workers.
In addition, at the fair site, five organizations including the Gwangju Employment Welfare Plus Center, Gwangju Metropolitan City Youth Labor Rights Center, (Corporation) Regional Employment Policy Research Institute, Hanul Vocational School, and Gwangju University LINC3.0 Project Group will operate an on-site consulting hall for job seekers.
Here, they provide necessary information before employment, including various employment policies, free one-on-one consultations with certified labor attorneys, preparation of labor contracts, minimum wage, and employment incentive systems.
A Nam-gu official stated, "We have discovered recruiting companies in various fields for job seekers hoping for employment, and especially this year’s fair will be a good opportunity for young job seekers looking for jobs," adding, "We will do our best to carry out the job fair for employment stability and revitalization of the local economy."
