Boseong Joseong - Ulsan Namgu Mugeo Sisterhood Exchange Event

Discussion on Local Culture Exploration and Measures to Revitalize Exchange

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 17th that Joseong-myeon held a sister city exchange event with Mugeo-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan City.


Through this exchange event, about 25 people including public officials from Joseong-myeon, Kim Kyung-yeol, a member of the Boseong County Council, Yoo Rae-jun, chairman of the Boseong County Village Chief Association, Im Yuk-gi, chairman of the Joseong-myeon Residents' Association, and the Joseong-myeon Village Chief Association visited Mugeo-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan Metropolitan City, where they explored local culture and discussed ways to revitalize exchanges between sister cities.

At the event venue, environmentally friendly agricultural products such as reclaimed land glutinous rice, new rice, and kiwifruit, all produced directly in Joseong-myeon, Boseong-gun, were sold in full, receiving enthusiastic responses from Mugeo-dong residents.


Lee (last name withheld), a representative of the participating producer farm, said, “Through today's exchange, I am glad that it became an opportunity for urban and rural areas to cooperate mutually by widely promoting agricultural and specialty products such as reclaimed land rice and kiwifruit produced in Joseong-myeon and establishing direct trading channels between producers and consumers.”


Choi Kyung-ah, head of Mugeo-dong, stated, “I hope that Mugeo-dong and Joseong-myeon will continue to share the affection of sisterhood, respect each other's regions and cultures, and become communities that coexist together through broad exchanges in various fields.”


Seo Jin-seok, head of Joseong-myeon, said, “This visit to Mugeo-dong by Joseong-myeon was a great opportunity to promote Boseong-gun and its specialty products.” He added, “Let us maintain continuous friendly relations from today, foster friendship through various exchange events, and cooperate mutually to create good opportunities for the mutual development of our regions.”


Meanwhile, Joseong-myeon and Mugeo-dong signed a sister city agreement in September 2016 to promote mutual cooperation and exchange between urban and rural areas. Since then, they have continued various mutually beneficial exchange activities every year, including visits to Boseong tourist sites, participation in the Ulsan Whale Festival, attendance at the Best Administrative Service Day in Mugeo-dong, Ulsan, and sales activities of Boseong County agricultural and specialty products.
