Expansion of Overseas On-site Payment to 42 Countries
Toss's simple payment service Toss Pay will enable offline payments in 42 countries, including the United States and Japan.
Toss operator Viva Republica announced on the 20th that it will expand the countries where 'Toss Pay' offline payments are available to 42.
Previously, Toss started its first overseas offline payment service in China last September in partnership with Alipay Plus. Since then, it has added 40 countries including Malaysia at the end of last month, and as of today, Japan, Singapore, the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
Toss Pay users can make payments by presenting the barcode or QR code in the Toss app at 'Alipay Plus' affiliated stores in the respective countries or by scanning the barcode or QR code provided by the store. When making a payment, the amount is withdrawn in Korean won from the account linked to Toss Pay. There is no need to separately exchange to local currencies such as dollars or euros. The withdrawn payment amount can also be checked immediately.
A Toss Pay official stated, "We plan to launch the service in Thailand on the 30th of this month," and added, "By the end of the year, offline payments with Toss Pay will also be available in Macao, Hong Kong, and New Zealand."
