In Yohan, Chairman of the People Power Party Innovation Committee, will attend the 8th anniversary memorial service of the late former President Kim Young-sam on the 22nd. This will be his third event related to former presidents, following his attendance at the 44th memorial service for former President Park Chung-hee and the launch ceremony of the 100th anniversary commemorative project committee for former President Kim Dae-jung's birth.
According to political circles on the 20th, Chairman In was officially invited to the memorial service hosted by the Kim Young-sam Democratic Center. The memorial service will be held on the 22nd at the National Seoul National Cemetery. A representative from the late president’s side said, "In accordance with former President Kim’s wishes, who emphasized unity, the Innovation Committee Chairman was also asked to attend."

Chairman In is said to highly appreciate former President Kim, who laid the first cornerstone of South Korea’s democratization. Former President Kim was effectively the first president to create a government through a national referendum via the merger of three parties. Chairman In recently emphasized that former President Kim ended the military regime and played the role of a bridge for peaceful regime change by serving as a 'civilian government,' succeeding former President Kim Dae-jung’s 'People’s Government.' He also cited the real-name financial transaction system as a significant achievement. There is no personal friendship between them.
Earlier, Chairman In attended the memorial service for former President Park Chung-hee as his first official schedule after taking office. At that memorial service, former President Park Geun-hye and President Yoon Suk-yeol also attended, drawing attention. On the 8th, he attended the 100th anniversary commemorative ceremony for former President Kim Dae-jung’s birth and met Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea. At that time, Chairman In told Leader Lee, "Let’s stop the political strife." Chairman In is known to be close enough to have had a private meeting with former President Kim.
Meanwhile, the People Power Party leadership will also attend the memorial service along with Chairman In. President Yoon Suk-yeol will not attend this memorial service due to being on a foreign trip. Last year, before the memorial service, President Yoon visited the National Cemetery in the morning and paid respects at former President Kim’s grave. At the 6th anniversary memorial service for former President Kim held in 2021, all presidential candidates at the time, including Yoon Suk-yeol, Lee Jae-myung, Sim Sang-jung, and Ahn Cheol-soo, attended ahead of the presidential election.
