Gwangjin-gu Council Regular Meeting: Handling of 2024 Budget Proposal and Fund Operation Plan

The Gwangjin District Council (Chairman Chu Yoon-gu) opened the 266th 2nd regular session on the 16th and began legislative activities for a total of 35 days until the 20th of next month.


In this 266th 2nd regular session, which is the last session of the year, the 2023 administrative audit will be conducted, and a total of 26 agenda items will be processed, including the 2024 revenue and expenditure budget plan, fund operation plan, and 17 ordinances.


On the first day of the regular session, the 16th, at the 1st plenary meeting, Chairman Chu Yoon-gu expressed in his opening remarks, “I thank the residents who have shown great interest and support for the Gwangjin District Council throughout this year. This regular session includes important agenda reviews such as next year’s budget and administrative audit. Through the administrative audit, I hope unreasonable administration and systems will be improved and reasonable alternatives will be proposed.” He added, “When reviewing next year’s budget, please carefully examine the priorities of major projects so that the budget can be allocated with the welfare of residents and revitalization of the local economy as the top priorities.”


In the subsequent 5-minute speech, Councilor Seo Min-woo pointed out the excessive and unnecessary protocol interference in Gwangjin District’s protocol guidelines and local social organizations, as well as the prohibition of congratulatory messages and videos from incumbent members of the National Assembly, emphasizing, “I hope that in future local event protocols, outdated practices will be abandoned and protocols will be for the benefit of residents.”


Meanwhile, on the 17th, the Gwangjin District Council will review ordinances and other agenda items by each standing committee, conduct an administrative audit for eight days starting on the 20th, review next year’s budget and fund operation plans by each relevant standing committee for three days from the 29th, and conduct the main review at the Budget and Accounts Special Committee from December 4th to 14th, concluding the session by processing these items on the 20th.
