According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 19th, over 100 public officials and private experts have been deployed to the National Information Resources Service Center in Daejeon (hereinafter referred to as the Information Management Center), where the servers and network equipment of the government administrative network are located, to continue recovery work.
So far, the recovery personnel have replaced network equipment that caused the network malfunction and have checked whether the problem recurs at actual civil service sites.
However, since local government field inspections were conducted on Saturday when community centers were closed, resulting in significantly fewer user connections compared to weekdays, it remains uncertain whether the system will operate normally on weekdays as well.
The government’s online civil service, Government24, which was temporarily resumed the previous day, has been operating smoothly without any significant issues so far.
Experts are examining whether there was a problem with the patch used for the program update or if the updated program conflicted with other programs.
They are also reviewing whether the network malfunction was caused by hacking. So far, no signs or traces of hacking have been found.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety is operating a Local Administrative Network Service Malfunction Countermeasures Headquarters, led by the Vice Minister, and is making every effort to normalize the Sido Saeol Administrative System.
