"Innovation Committee Recommendations Are for Individual Judgment"
"Yoon's 'Act According to Conscience' Message Is Just Encouragement"
Lee Yong, a member of the People Power Party, harshly criticized In Yo-han's Innovation Committee, saying it is "rough and crude beyond measure." On the 17th, Lee posted on his social media under the title "A Bitter Advice to the People Power Party Innovation Committee," stating, "The Innovation Committee may propose and recommend measures to innovate the party, but it is not granted the authority to pull someone down and take their position."
Previously, Innovation Committee Chairman In Yo-han recommended that the party leadership, senior members, and the pro-Yoon (pro-Yoon Seok-yeol) faction either not run in next year's general election or run in difficult constituencies in the metropolitan area. Regarding this, Lee said, "I have stated that if the party requests it, I am willing to run in a difficult district or not run at all. This is because it is the right path for the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol government and victory in the general election," adding, "However, seeing what is happening now within the Innovation Committee, I cannot help but feel regret."
Lee criticized, "The threatening message that the Innovation Committee will be disbanded early if the party does not accept its innovation plan is highly inappropriate," and pointed out, "According to the Innovation Committee, anyone who contributed to the regime's success must unconditionally sacrifice, while those who ran for other candidates or even those without party affiliation benefit as a result." He emphasized, "It should not become a situation where the occupying force forcibly pulls down those who have devoted themselves to regime change and the party."
Regarding Chairman In's claim that he received a message from President Yoon Seok-yeol's side to 'act according to his conscience,' Lee said, "It is just a usual form of encouragement," adding, "It is unacceptable to misunderstand or exaggerate this as having been granted full authority by the president. This has even led to a situation where the presidential office had to step in and clarify." The day before, a senior official from the presidential office denied In's claim, which seemed to imply President Yoon's intentions, stating, "There was no such thing."
Lee continued, "The judgment on the Innovation Committee's proposals and recommendations should not be made by others but by each individual after deep reflection," and added, "There is about a month left for the Innovation Committee's activities. I now expect the Innovation Committee to pursue an innovative path that unites our party and impresses the public, rather than engaging in power struggles that shake the party's values and confuse party members."
