Hyundai Motor Group Executive Personnel Changes... Hyundai Mobis Lee Gyuseok & Hyundai Steel Seo Ganghyun

Hyundai Motor Group carried out executive appointments for CEOs and presidents in the second half of this year on the 17th. Lee Gyu-seok, head of Hyundai Motor and Kia purchasing headquarters, was appointed as the new CEO of Hyundai Mobis, and Seo Kang-hyun, head of Hyundai Motor’s planning and finance headquarters, was promoted to president and appointed as CEO of Hyundai Steel.

Lee Gyu-seok, appointed as the CEO of Hyundai Mobis, is an expert in supply chain management (SCM), having served from head of purchasing division to head of headquarters at Hyundai Motor and Kia. Even during the supply chain crisis in 2021, when securing key parts such as automotive semiconductors was difficult, he contributed to stabilizing the group’s supply chain by timely securing major materials. This is evaluated as having laid the foundation for the group companies to achieve their highest performance.

Hyundai Motor Group expects Lee to accelerate the establishment and execution of new business strategies for Hyundai Mobis based on his deep understanding of SCM and global capabilities.

Seo Kang-hyun, newly appointed president and CEO of Hyundai Steel, is also a figure who laid the foundation for the group’s highest sales and performance. While serving as Hyundai Motor’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Seo concurrently oversaw the company’s planning division, leading the establishment of mid- to long-term directions and future-oriented investments.

Previously, Seo served as CFO of Hyundai Steel from 2019 to 2020, successfully improving the financial structure. Hyundai Motor Group expects that with this appointment, Seo will work on improving business structure by establishing mid- to long-term strategies for Hyundai Steel and securing profitability through discovering new demand and products.

Meanwhile, Cho Seong-hwan, president of Hyundai Mobis, and Ahn Dong-il, president of Hyundai Steel, were each appointed as advisors to Hyundai Motor Group. Cho is scheduled to serve as the chairman of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for two years starting in 2024.
