Strike to be held again from the 13th to 15th of this month
The Gyeongjin Passenger Union, which operates intercity buses traveling from Suwon and Hwaseong in Gyeonggi Province to Seoul, announced that it will strike during the morning rush hour on the 17th.
According to the Gyeonggi Branch of the Korean Public Service and Transport Workers' Union (KPTU) Gyeongjin Passenger Chapter (hereafter the union) on the 16th, the union held a dispute countermeasure committee meeting and decided to suspend operations from 4:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the 17th.
Previously, the union conducted strikes on the afternoon of the 13th, the morning of the 14th, and the afternoon of the 15th, but did not strike on the 16th, the day of the 2024 College Scholastic Ability Test.
Gyeongjin Passenger operates 177 intercity buses on 14 routes, including Bus No. 3000 connecting Gosaek Station and Gangnam Station, Bus No. 7770 running between Suwon Station and Sadang Station, and Bus No. 7800 traveling between West Suwon and Sadang Station.
The union demanded a 6% wage increase and a realistic adjustment of the dispatch timetable from management, but announced the strike after receiving no meaningful response from the management side.
