Shinsegae Group Appoints Lim Young-rok, CEO of Property, as Head of Strategy Office

Shinsegae Group is continuing a comprehensive organizational overhaul by introducing a change in the head of its management strategy office.

According to the distribution industry on the 16th, Shinsegae Group appointed Lim Young-rok, CEO (President) of Shinsegae Property and Chosun Hotel & Resort, as the head of the management strategy office. Kwon Hyuk-gu, who led the group’s strategy office since 2015, stepped down after eight years.

The Shinsegae Group management strategy office serves as the group’s control tower, overseeing overall management. It acts as a bridge connecting Shinsegae and E-Mart, with the core mission of creating synergy within the group. It also coordinates management and business among affiliated companies.

With this personnel change, CEO Lim Young-rok’s influence within the group is expected to expand further. In the regular executive appointments of September 2024, Shinsegae Group assigned CEO Lim, who has been leading Shinsegae Property, to also oversee Chosun Hotel & Resort, establishing a concurrent position system.

Originally from Hapcheon, Gyeongnam, CEO Lim joined Shinsegae Construction S.C Development Sales Team in 1997. He then served as Planning Team Leader in the Shinsegae Management Support Office, and Assistant General Manager in charge of development. Later, he held positions as Executive Director of Development and New Business PJT at Shinsegae Group Strategy Office and Deputy Vice President of Shinsegae Property. In 2016, he was appointed CEO of Shinsegae Property. Since September, he has concurrently held the CEO positions of Shinsegae Property and Chosun Hotel & Resort.
