ESG Happiness Economy Institute Announces ESG Evaluation of 226 Local Governments Nationwide
Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, achieved an outstanding 1st place among county-level regions and 5th place nationwide in the ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) evaluation.
According to the county on the 16th, this evaluation was conducted by the ESG Happy Economy Research Institute, targeting 226 local governments nationwide. It assessed policy suitability and sustainability based on 60 indicators and 106 detailed items, including local governments' sustainability, residential conditions, quality of life, administrative capacity, and level of interest.
In particular, Shinan-gun received excellent evaluations in the Environment (E) and Social (S) sectors, achieving a comprehensive score of 82.62 (Grade A), ranking 1st among 82 county-level local governments and 5th among 226 local governments nationwide.
This reflects Shinan-gun's active response to the climate crisis and the era of local extinction by implementing resident-centered sustainable policies through the ESG value system and striving to contribute to regional development.
County Governor Park Woo-ryang stated, “The 2023 ESG evaluation results signify that our county’s various policies and efforts have been recognized at the national and local government levels. We will work even harder to promote policies for the hope and happiness of our residents and for sustainable regional development.”
The significance of this ESG evaluation result lies in the fact that Shinan-gun’s efforts to provide pride and stability to its residents through sustainable development policies were highly evaluated by an external professional institution.
