Gyeonggi-do Conducts Safety Inspection at Railway Construction Sites

Gyeonggi-do Conducts Safety Inspection at Railway Construction Sites Gyeonggi Provincial Government

Gyeonggi Province will conduct a safety management inspection of railway construction sites from the 16th to the 22nd of this month.

The main inspection targets are seven railway construction sites directly managed by Gyeonggi Province, including Byeollae Line construction sections 3, 4, 5, and 6, and Dobongsan~Okjeong Line construction sections 1, 2, and 3.

For this inspection, Gyeonggi Province formed a joint inspection team with the Construction Project Management Group and contractors. Notably, the joint inspection team includes non-resident technical support personnel specializing in construction safety and quality management to conduct cross-checks.

The inspection team will focus on the safety of temporary structures affected by heavy snow, strong winds, and cold waves, the status of emergency temporary power usage, vulnerable site facilities such as fire and suffocation risks, and measures to ensure the quality of wet winter concrete works.

For minor issues found during the inspection, immediate corrections will be made, while matters requiring mid- to long-term review will be addressed by submitting a safety management plan and continuously monitored until resolved.

Go Bung-ro, Director of Railway Construction at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "At railway construction sites, ensuring the safety of temporary structures during underground tunnel work, preventing worker accidents caused by fire and suffocation, and managing concrete quality inside tunnels amid sudden temperature drops are of utmost importance. Through joint inspections, we will identify safety risk factors in advance and do our best to manage safety."
