Main Character Noh Hyeju Learned About Dobong-gu Youth Policy Promotion Channel 'Dobong Cheongnyeon Toktok' and Applied... Completed One-Year Internship at a Logistics Company in California, USA
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that one young participant in the overseas internship program, which was implemented for the first time in Seoul this year, departed for the United States on November 13 to begin their overseas internship.
The Dobong Youth Overseas Internship Support Project is a program that supports young people in Dobong-gu who wish to gain internship experience at companies located in the United States by covering visa issuance costs and other expenses. The project is carried out in collaboration with ICN Group, a global employment placement specialist agency.
The five young people from Dobong selected as participants this year have been matched with U.S.-based companies since July according to each participant’s desired industry and job field. This departure marks the first case of a youth who successfully completed the job matching and visa issuance process and has now left for the U.S.
The youths working in the U.S. after job matching and visa issuance will gain practical experience in their respective fields during a work period of approximately one to one and a half years.
Participant Noh Hye-ju, who will be interning at a logistics-related company located in California, said, “As I was about to graduate from university, I wanted to gain experience working abroad. While researching, I learned about the overseas internship support project through Dobong-gu’s youth policy promotion KakaoTalk channel ‘Dobong Youth Toktok.’”
She added, “I am grateful to gain valuable overseas internship experience with the support of Dobong-gu, where I have lived since childhood. While I am somewhat worried about departing as the first overseas intern from Dobong-gu, I want to make the one-year overseas internship period meaningful and become a good precedent for future intern youths, encouraged by the support of my parents and the district office staff.”
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “I am pleased to see the first results of the Dobong Youth Overseas Internship Support Project, which was planned as a campaign pledge for the 8th local government and carried out after much consideration. I hope that the experience of participating in the overseas internship will serve as a valuable foundation for the growth and future of our youth.”
