Hometown Love Direct Market & Cultural Arts Festival Held at Daegu Stadium
Event Participants Receive Seaweed from Jukdo Market and Spinach from Pohangcho
Pohang City will open the "Pohang Hometown Love Agricultural, Livestock, and Marine Products Direct Market" for two days from the 18th to the 19th at the west square of Daegu Stadium to expand sales channels for excellent local agricultural, marine, and specialty products during the year-end and kimchi-making season.
Hosted and organized by the Daegu Pohang Hometown Association and supported by Pohang City and Gyeongbuk Province, this event will feature 63 booths in total, including excellent agricultural, marine, and specialty product vendors, sister cities, cultural and artistic groups, and win-win cooperation companies, aiming to showcase the diverse charms of Pohang’s outstanding agricultural specialties to Daegu citizens.
The opening ceremony on the 18th will begin with a congratulatory performance by the Pohang City Art Troupe, followed by promotions and tasting events for the online agricultural specialty shopping mall Pohang Market, Pohang raspberries, and seasonal specialties such as Gwamegi.
Additionally, the event will actively promote the establishment and attraction of a research-centered medical school, a key initiative of Pohang City, and the Hometown Love Donation Program to Daegu citizens and hometown association members. At the opening ceremony, 1,000 participants will receive seaweed from Jukdo Market, and the first 200 customers who purchase over 20,000 KRW will be gifted one bunch of Pohang spinach (Pohangcho).
Park Young-jun, president of the Daegu Pohang Hometown Association, said, “Through this Pohang Hometown Love Daegu Direct Market, we aim to inspire hometown pride among association members and contribute to the development of local farms and the mutual growth of urban and rural areas, thereby supporting the advancement of Pohang city administration.”
Kim Nam-il, vice mayor, stated, “We are very pleased to offer Daegu citizens more affordable and excellent local agricultural, marine, and specialty products,” adding, “We will continue to strive to revitalize the local economy by expanding sales channels in large cities.”
