Next Year's International Pharmaceutical Students' Federation World Congress to Be Held in Incheon Songdo

The International Pharmaceutical Students' Federation (IPSF) World Congress will be held from August 7 to 11 next year at Yonsei University International Campus in Songdo International City, Incheon.

Incheon City announced on the 14th that it, along with the Incheon Tourism Organization and the Korean Pharmaceutical Students' Federation, successfully secured the hosting rights for the '69th IPSF World Congress' to be held next year. Incheon was finally selected as the host city after a fierce competition until the last moment with Mexico, Iran, and Nigeria.

Domestically, the congress was held online in Seoul in 2021, and next year's congress will be the first to be held offline. This marks the first time in the history of the IPSF, established in 1949, that pharmaceutical students and early-career pharmacists from around the world will gather in Incheon.

The IPSF World Congress is an annual event where about 500 pharmaceutical students and pharmacists within four years of graduation from around the world gather to participate in workshops, symposiums, and annual meetings. It is characterized by active cultural experience programs of the host city and cultural exchange programs among participating countries.

Incheon City plans to use this congress to promote the Songdo International Convention Complex District and strengthen the brand of 'MICE City Incheon' through accommodation, shopping, and tourism. Additionally, with global interest in K-Culture higher than ever, the city plans to offer participants opportunities to experience activities such as learning K-POP dance or making traditional Korean food themselves.

An official from Incheon City stated, "As an event where future talents leading the global pharmaceutical field gather in one place, it is expected to contribute to revitalizing the local economy by enhancing the brand of Songdo, the world's number one in biopharmaceutical production capacity, and the global MICE city Incheon."
