On this day, 40 CEOs and about 700 employees from 65 financial investment companies and securities-related organizations, including the association, participated. A total of 50,000 kg of kimchi was delivered to about 150 welfare facilities sponsored by the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation and financial investment companies.
The Kimchi Fair began in 2011 to support underprivileged neighbors through winter. Marking its 13th year this year, the Love Kimchi Fair has established itself as a representative social contribution event in the financial investment industry, with the number of participants and the amount of donated kimchi increasing every year.
The event was attended by Seo Yu-seok, Chairman of the Korea Financial Investment Association; Hwang Young-gi, Chairman of the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation; and representatives of financial investment companies and securities-related organizations. Baek Hye-ryun, Chairperson of the National Assembly's Political Affairs Committee; Yoon Han-hong, member of the People Power Party and secretary of the Political Affairs Committee; Kim Jong-min, member of the Democratic Party and secretary of the Political Affairs Committee; and Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District Office, also visited the site to encourage the donation event.
Chairman Seo Yu-seok said, “Although today's event is small, I hope it will serve as an opportunity for our industry to contribute to social sharing and to unite moving forward.” He added, “The financial investment industry will continue to promote various social contribution activities.” Furthermore, he stated, “Like kimchi, which has become a recent global trend, our financial investment industry will strive to grow on the world stage based on our unique characteristics and strengths.”
