Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom will receive the COVID-19 and influenza vaccines simultaneously on the 14th.
Ulsan City announced that at 1 p.m. on the same day, two vaccines will be administered simultaneously at Nam-gu Public Health Center, and they will urge high-risk groups to participate in vaccination.
The 2023-2024 season COVID-19 vaccination began on October 19 for high-risk groups such as seniors aged 65 and older, immunocompromised individuals aged 12-64, and members of infection-vulnerable facilities.
From November 1, free vaccinations have been available to all citizens.
The vaccination sites include 286 local clinics and hospitals (designated medical institutions) within the jurisdiction, and simultaneous vaccination with the influenza (flu) vaccine is also possible.
According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, the COVID-19 XBB.1.5 monovalent vaccine administered this season was newly developed to respond to the prevailing variant, and it shows about 4.1 times higher antibody response against the XBB variant virus compared to existing vaccines.
Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom said, “As we face the winter season marking the first recovery of daily life from COVID-19, I hope that citizens, including seniors aged 65 and older, will actively participate in COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations to ensure a safe year-end and New Year.”
As of the 10th, 46,173 people aged 65 and older in Ulsan have been vaccinated against COVID-19, representing a vaccination rate of 26.1%.
