This is the first robot festival planned by Gangnam-gu, organized to promote Gangnam-gu’s advanced robot business development policies, such as the opening of the Suseo-dong 730 Robot Plus Demonstration Support Center, both domestically and internationally. The festival aims to help residents better understand robots, which have deeply penetrated our daily lives, through robot exhibitions and hands-on experiences.

The festival is hosted by Gangnam-gu, Gangnam Cultural Foundation, and the Robot Plus Festival Organizing Committee, with sponsorship from Shinhan Bank, COEX, Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement, and Korea Robot Industry Association.

The opening ceremony at 10 a.m. on the 17th will feature various robots fitting for a robot festival. There will be a robot performance dancing to K-POP, and the robot dog "Spot" will guide the guests to the venue. Additionally, the event will be co-hosted by a human and a robot MC.

An exhibition space will be presented where visitors can vividly experience various robot development policies promoted by Gangnam-gu in a 3D virtual environment. The Suseo-dong 730 Robot Plus Demonstration Support Center, scheduled for completion in December, will be recreated as a twin space identical to the actual center, allowing visitors to experience industrial robots that will operate there. The virtual exhibition hall will also feature the Samsung Sunrise Park with robot city symbols and Yangjaecheon where patrol robots run, showcasing the future robot city of Gangnam.

The robot exhibition will include participation from three institutions?Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement, Korea Institute of Robot Convergence, and Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute?and 20 robot companies. ▲ Two companies will showcase manufacturing robots and collaborative robots used in industrial sites ▲ Four companies will present robots in the medical and healthcare fields designed to accompany socially vulnerable groups, including dementia prevention cognitive training robots, care robots, wearable robots, and rehabilitation robots ▲ Six companies will introduce humanoid AI coding education robots and autonomous driving car coding robots to nurture digital dream talents ▲ Eight companies will display professional service robots such as indoor and outdoor delivery robots, frying and ramen cooking robots, and coffee-making robots.

On the 19th, from 2 to 3 p.m., there will be a lecture by Lee Sang-min, CEO of the robot company Newbility, who was selected as one of Forbes Asia’s 30 Under 30 leaders.

Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “This robot festival not only allows people to see at a glance the robot development projects promoted by Gangnam-gu but also to experience robots currently used in various aspects of our daily lives. We will continue to promote specialized robot projects unique to Gangnam-gu and create Gangnam as a robot-friendly city leading Korea’s future robot industry.”
