Haenam-gun, 227 Village Communities... "We Created Joyful Change Together"

Successful Completion of Village Community Harmony Festival, Showcasing One Year of Community Achievements

The community gathering event for village communities, which Jeonnam Haenam-gun is intensively fostering, was successfully concluded under the theme of "Enjoyable Change Made Together."

According to the county on the 13th, on the 7th, the village community gathering event was held at Haenam-gun Citizen Square, hosted by Haenam-gun and the village community support center, Haenam-gun Social Community Support Center, a community intermediary support organization, with about 500 citizens attending.

Exhibition and experience booths were operated in 23 villages where village communities are active, and the event featured a commemorative ceremony, performances, and community shows, receiving great applause.

At the commemorative ceremony, awards were presented to 10 outstanding communities that have continued excellent activities this year through 227 village communities and top villages in Haenam-gun.

The outstanding village communities awarded were △ Samsan-myeon Hanmaeum Singi △ Hwasan-myeon Residents' Autonomy Committee △ Hyunsan-myeon Bunto Village Association △ Masan-myeon Geumja Eoullim Community △ Hwawon-myeon Farm Social Cooperative, and the outstanding top villages selected were △ Bukil-myeon Wolseong Village △ Okcheon-myeon Cheongryong Village △ Gyegok-myeon Jangsu Village △ Sanim-myeon Geumho Village △ Munnae-myeon Seoha Village.

At the event’s finale, Masan-myeon Geumja Eoullim Community, selected as an outstanding village, presented a traditional wedding ceremony reenactment with Haenam-gun and the village community as the groom and bride, followed by a celebratory popping of a balloon wishing for citizen harmony and a livable top Haenam.

During the event, programs from 14 communities, including pungmul (traditional percussion music), choir, folk songs, and plays operated by each village, were also performed on stage for the citizens.

In Haenam-gun, 227 communities are actively operating this year, including 68 village communities and 159 top villages, demonstrating exemplary nationwide cases of community activities.

Every year, a gathering is held to share and celebrate the achievements promoted by village communities and top villages with the citizens.

County Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan stated, “Through the process of villagers participating together in the event, they were able to share and communicate their activities. I hope that the network between villages will be more firmly established through this community event with residents, and we will actively support the revitalization of village communities.”
