On the 13th, at the sentencing trial for Mr. A's charges of intimidation and obstruction of official duties by deception, presided over by Judge Kim Su-jeong of Suwon District Court Criminal Division 11, the prosecution requested a sentence of 3 years in prison along with 5 years each of employment restriction and notification of personal information disclosure.
Mr. A's sentencing hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. on the 23rd.
Mr. A said, "I sincerely apologize for causing public concern due to my reckless actions. I am sorry to those who were harmed because of me, and I deeply reflect on my inadequate behavior as a serious offender. I vow to live diligently from now on. I apologize."
Mr. A is accused of posting on the community 'DC Inside' bulletin board at 7:03 p.m. on September 3, the day of the 'Bundang stabbing rampage' which resulted in multiple casualties, a message stating "Going to stab 20 Han-nam at Seohyeon Station on Friday" along with a photo holding a weapon. 'Han-nam' is an abbreviation for Korean men and is used as a derogatory term to belittle Korean males.
At that time, the police deployed riot police and officers inside and around Seohyeon Station to prepare for any situation. Mr. A was later arrested at his residence.
In the final defense, the lawyer said, "The defendant has been spending time reflecting with tears every day since his arrest," and requested, "Considering his lack of criminal record and his diligent social life, please show leniency to the fullest extent permitted by law."
