Discussions on qualitative improvement of urban and architectural design, proactive guidelines to meet redevelopment project demands
Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) held the 'Gangbuk-gu Urban, Landscape, and Architecture Seminar' over two days on the 10th and 11th at the Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance Training Center.
The 'Gangbuk-gu Urban, Landscape, and Architecture Seminar' (hereafter referred to as the seminar) was organized to present a comprehensive direction for the Gangbuk-gu redevelopment plan and to seek proactive guidelines in anticipation of the expected relaxation of regulations in the Bukhansan altitude district by the end of this year.
The two-day seminar, themed "How to manage planning when promoting redevelopment projects in Gangbuk-gu," featured five experts in related fields such as urban landscape, urban planning, redevelopment planning, and architectural design as presenters. About 60 participants attended, including Mayor Lee Soon-hee, members of the Gangbuk-gu Council, and district officials.
The first day, the 10th, mainly focused on discussions about Gangbuk-gu's urban planning. Professor Bae Woong-gyu, president of the Korean Landscape Society and a professor at Chung-Ang University currently serving as the general planner (MP) for Moa Town in Beondong 411 and Suyu-dong 52-1 in Gangbuk-gu, and Ryu Yong-sang, CEO of Anders Engineering, each presented on the topic "The Relationship between Urban Landscape Management and Urban Planning and Redevelopment Planning," followed by a comprehensive discussion.
On that day, Professor Bae Woong-gyu presented on "The Correlation between Urban Landscape, Urban Planning, and Redevelopment Planning," while CEO Ryu Yong-sang discussed "Recent Residential Area Redevelopment Methods and Implications According to Changing Conditions, including Rapid Integrated Planning, Moa Housing and Moa Town, and Station Area Revitalization Projects."
Subsequently, Professor Park Tae-won of the Department of Urban Planning and Real Estate at Kwangwoon University and Director Han Seung-chul of Donglim PND presented on "Characteristics and Planning Directions of Gangbuk-gu Urban Planning." Professor Park discussed the current status and future directions of Gangbuk-gu's overall urban planning, while Director Han explained the background of Seoul City's guideline review following the relaxation of the Bukhansan altitude district regulations.
In particular, based on simulation reviews conducted at 27 viewpoints within the Bukhansan altitude district, the basic management direction for the altitude district and applicable landscape management guidelines for each viewpoint were intensively discussed.
On the second day, the 11th, Yoo Jae-deuk, CEO of Illo Architecture Office, presented on "Urban Landscape and Urban & Architectural Design." CEO Yoo shared insights on urban and architectural design and urban landscape creation through major domestic and international city cases. Afterward, participants shared opinions through a comprehensive discussion, concluding the seminar.
Mayor Lee Soon-hee of Gangbuk-gu stated, "This month, Gangbuk-gu became the first district in Seoul to enact an ordinance supporting redevelopment projects. In addition, we are preparing systematic redevelopment support systems, including a public design promotion plan and a basic plan for residential area redevelopment." She added, "Through systematic redevelopment support that reflects the district's symbolism and identity, we will continuously enhance the urban quality of the district."
