LGU+ Conducts Music Therapy Program for Vulnerable Groups with Ewha Womans University

LG Uplus announced on the 12th that it will support a music therapy program for children and adolescents from vulnerable groups in collaboration with Ewha Womans University.

LG Uplus has provided a grant of 50 million KRW to the Department of Music Therapy at Ewha Womans University and plans to operate a psychological and emotional support program centered on music activities such as playing instruments, singing, and creative composition.

The program involves faculty members from the Department of Music Therapy at Ewha Womans University, graduate students in master's and doctoral programs, and music therapy experts. Regular programs include courses on playing instruments, singing, songwriting, and composition, as well as music counseling for caregivers of the target children and adolescents.

The goal is to help children and adolescents properly manage psychological stress, strengthen their emotional functions, and develop social competencies.

The program is conducted in two groups: children with developmental disabilities and children living in the Yeongnak Borinwon child welfare facility in Yongsan-gu. Within each group, children are further divided into preschool-aged and school-aged children and adolescents to provide education tailored to their characteristics. Regular classes began last month.

LG Uplus plans to recruit additional individuals with developmental disabilities, their families, and children residing in facilities until September next year, aiming to operate the program for a total of about 100 participants annually.
