A Parent Who Solely Claimed "Child Abuse" Was Ultimately Reported

Submission of a Complaint to Gwangju Bukbu Police Station on the 14th

The elementary school teachers' labor union has decided to file a complaint against an elementary school student's parent. This is because the parent continuously harassed the teacher by accusing that their child was abused during the teacher's intervention and discipline in a fight among children, even filing for damages.

The Elementary Teachers' Union announced on the 11th that it will criminally charge parent A, who falsely accused teacher Yoon from an elementary school in Buk-gu, Gwangju, of child abuse on the 14th.

According to the union, last April, Mr. Yoon saw A's son hitting another student. To stop the fight, he deliberately overturned a desk. He also tore up a reflection letter written by A's son, saying it lacked sincerity. A accused Mr. Yoon of child abuse, claiming excessive discipline.

The Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office ruled that "Mr. Yoon's actions are difficult to be seen as emotional abuse" and dismissed the case. The Gwangju High Prosecutors' Office also dismissed the case in a retrial. A even filed a petition for reconsideration, but the court dismissed it last month. Separately from the criminal case, Mr. Yoon was sued for 32 million won in damages by the parent, but the presiding judge of the Gwangju District Court Civil Division 3 dismissed the case.

The judge ruled, "There is no evidence or material to acknowledge that Mr. Yoon inflicted physical or mental abuse that could hinder normal development beyond educating and guiding A's child."

The Elementary Teachers' Union stated, "We are filing charges against A for obstructing the teacher's rightful guidance and violating teachers' authority," and emphasized, "We urge the investigative authorities to severely punish so that teachers can fulfill their duty to educate students."
