Two representative tourist destinations in Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, Dongho Beach and Bokbunja Recreation Area, have been selected as new sites for the '2024 Open Tourism Site Project.'
According to the county on the 10th, open tourism sites are projects that create convenient and enjoyable travel conditions for everyone by resolving mobility inconveniences such as walkways and ramps maintenance at tourist sites, and installing experiential content that can be enjoyed according to different types of disabilities.

Earlier, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 9th that they had selected 30 tourist spots from 12 local governments as new sites for the 2024 Open Tourism Site Project.
Gochang-gun secured a total project budget of 1 billion KRW (500 million KRW from the national government and 500 million KRW from the county) for Dongho Beach (Dongho National Leisure Camping Site) and Bokbunja Recreation Area (Gochang National Leisure Camping Site).
The county finalized detailed project plans through on-site consulting with BF (Barrier Free) experts, including persons with disabilities, and plans to improve facilities suited to the characteristics of the tourist sites and expand tourism experience content tailored to the types of tourism-vulnerable groups.
County Governor Shim Deok-seop said, “To improve equal tourism activity conditions for tourists visiting Gochang-gun, we will improve not only physical facilities but also operate experiential specialized programs for tourism activities, and improve all aspects for barrier-free tourism such as information and services.”
