Gumi-si Prepares Financial Support for Semiconductor Resident Companies

Gyeongbuk Province, Korea Development Bank, and Pohang City Sign Financial Support Agreement for National Advanced Strategic Industries

On the 9th, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk signed a financial support business agreement with the Korea Development Bank, Gyeongbuk Province, and Pohang City to foster national advanced strategic industries as regionally specialized industries.

At the signing ceremony, Kang Seok-hoon, Chairman of the Korea Development Bank, Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, Kim Jang-ho, Mayor of Gumi, and Lee Kang-deok, Mayor of Pohang, attended.


The Korea Development Bank promised close support to create industrial full-cycle conditions and establish a complete ecosystem to foster national advanced strategic industries (semiconductors and secondary batteries) as region-led industries, following the selection of Gumi City and Pohang City as semiconductor and secondary battery specialized complexes, respectively.


To this end, they agreed to mutually cooperate and promote measures such as ▲establishing policy financial support programs for companies residing in national advanced strategic industry specialized complexes ▲supporting domestic and international cooperation and related research for fostering national advanced strategic industries and companies ▲joint marketing and promotional support for regional industrial development.


Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, “Policy financial support is essential for timely investment by companies,” and added, “This agreement is expected to serve as a foundation for Gumi to become a hub for the semiconductor industry and to establish a successful collaboration model with policy financial institutions.”
