Cooperation and Harmony: Anticipating New Future Growth Engines
Geochang-gun in Gyeongnam announced on the 10th that it signed a friendship exchange agreement with Yangpyeong-gun at the Yangpyeong County Office to establish a future-oriented cooperative system and promote joint development and prosperity.
The signing ceremony was attended by about 30 people, including Gu In-mo, the governor of Geochang-gun, Park Su-ja, vice chairman of the Geochang County Council, Jeon Jin-seon, the governor of Yangpyeong-gun, and Yoon Soon-ok, chairman of the Yangpyeong County Council. The event proceeded with introductions of the delegations from both cities, reports on the progress made so far, signing and exchanging the agreement.
Through the agreement, the two cities promised to promote friendship based on mutual respect and trust and to exchange and cooperate in various fields such as education, culture, and tourism. They also agreed to share administrative information and excellent policies, and to explore the development and implementation of programs on common interests.
After exchanging the agreement documents, to commemorate the friendship exchange agreement, the two cities exchanged souvenirs: a jing made of brass, a representative specialty of Geochang-gun, and a ginkgo tree frame, a symbol of Yangpyeong-gun.
Additionally, 60 employees from both cities took time to deliver hometown love donation funds, which they prepared sincerely to support cooperation, harmony, and friendship between the sister cities, further enhancing the significance of the friendship exchange agreement.
Meanwhile, Yangpyeong-gun, which has established ties as a sister city with Geochang-gun, is a premium tourist city boasting Dumulmeori, selected as one of Korea’s top 100 tourist destinations for 2023?2024, Semiwon, Gyeonggi-do’s first provincial garden themed on lotus flowers, and the ginkgo tree at Yongmunsa Temple, Natural Monument No. 30, with a history of a thousand years. It is also the nation’s first designated eco-friendly agricultural special zone and a nature-friendly city with four natural recreation forests and healing forests.
