Yeosu Night Sea in Jeollanam-do has established itself as a representative tourism content of Yeosu City, and Yeosu City has been selected for four sites in the ‘100 Nighttime Attractions of Korea,’ the most among local governments, drawing attention as a nighttime tourism destination.
The selected nighttime tourism resources in Yeosu are ‘Jongpo Marine Park Romantic Pocha Street,’ ‘Big-O Show,’ ‘Yeosu Night Sea Romantic Busking,’ and ‘Busker Running Through Time,’ totaling four sites.
‘100 Nighttime Attractions of Korea’ is a new nighttime tourism brand developed this year for the first time by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization. It selects attractive nighttime sceneries and unique nighttime tourism programs nationwide.
The selected sites are introduced on the nighttime tourism theme page within the Korea Tourism Organization’s ‘Korea Travel Easy’ platform, and through nationwide promotion and marketing by the Korea Tourism Organization, it is expected to greatly contribute to the revitalization of nighttime tourism in Yeosu City.
In line with the continuously increasing nighttime tourism trend, Yeosu City is promoting the ‘Yeosu City Nighttime Tourism Development Plan Establishment Project’ to explore mid- to long-term development directions for developing differentiated nighttime tourism content and to promote a sustainable tourism industry that can coexist with local residents.
A city official said, “The fact that Yeosu City was selected the most among local governments in the 100 Nighttime Attractions of Korea is the result of Yeosu City’s efforts to activate nighttime tourism in line with tourism trends and attract domestic and international tourists through active promotion.” He added, “We will continue to develop new nighttime tourism content that surpasses ‘Yeosu Night Sea,’ which was the nation’s top nighttime tourism content icon, and leap forward as an ‘international nighttime tourism healing city.’”
