Ulsan Ulju-gun Completes Emergency Vaccination for Cattle Lumpy Skin Disease

On the 8th, Ulju-gun, Ulsan City, completed the vaccination of 36,718 cattle raised at 1,427 cattle farms in the area with the Lumpy Skin vaccine.

Ulju-gun began emergency vaccination on the 1st of this month to prevent further spread of Lumpy Skin, which first occurred domestically last month in Seosan, Chungnam.

Initially, vaccinations were planned to start immediately after receiving the vaccine and to be completed by the 10th, but the target period was shortened by two days to achieve faster immunity formation.

The county increased the vaccination teams from 6 teams with 18 members to 15 teams with 40 members, consisting of public veterinarians, private veterinarians, the Livestock Disease Control Headquarters, the Livestock Cooperative, the Korean Beef Association, and government officials.

It is expected that immunity will form about three weeks after vaccination, and surveillance activities on farms will be strengthened until the end of this month.

An Ulju-gun official urged, “Cattle farms should continuously carry out control and disinfection of blood-sucking vectors inside and outside the farm during the immunity formation period after vaccination, and immediately report to livestock quarantine authorities if any suspicious symptoms are observed.”
