For Dementia Patients Requiring Care and Elderly Living Alone
Gumi City in Gyeongbuk Province will provide the AI care robot "Hyodol" service from November to May next year to 14 elderly patients with mild dementia registered as customized case management targets at the Dementia Safety Center.
The AI care robot "Hyodol" is a doll modeled after a young child, equipped with sensors throughout its body. When the head, ears, or hands are touched, the program activates.
It assists with daily life management such as customized conversations according to the situation, medication reminders, and schedule management. It also helps prevent dementia and its worsening through various cognitive and physical activity programs including singing, quizzes, and religious activities.
Additionally, if the elderly person's activity is not detected for a certain period, a message is sent to the caregiver's smartphone to prevent dangerous situations.
Choi Hyun-joo, director of the Gumi Public Health Center, said, "Through the rental service of the care robot 'Hyodol,' it will help prevent dementia and its worsening, provide emotional support to the elderly, and minimize care gaps." She added, "We will continue to do our best to establish a meticulous care system to improve the quality of life for the elderly."
