LY Corporation announced on the 9th that it has launched a generative AI-based message summarization feature integrated with OpenAI's ChatGPT in 'LINE Open Chat.'
LY Corporation is Japan's largest tech company, established in October 2023 through the reorganization of group companies including LINE and Yahoo.
LINE Open Chat is currently available in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand. It is a service where users with shared interests gather to exchange information and converse about specific topics or daily life.
The LINE Open Chat message summarization feature was implemented to reduce the inconvenience of having to read numerous messages individually or missing important messages.
It will be gradually provided starting with some open chat rooms set to 'Public' and 'Allow Open Chat Search' from the time of creation.
When users press the 'Message Summary' button at the bottom right of the open chat room, the AI-generated summary will be displayed, and the summary will be automatically generated at set intervals. Users will be able to grasp lengthy conversations in open chat rooms concisely.
Jung Chang-geun, Product Owner of LINE Open Chat, said, "We plan to introduce various new features that enhance user experience, such as content provision functions linked to message summary results, in the future."
