NC Reports Operating Profit of 16.5 Billion KRW in Q3, Down 89% YoY

NCSoft's performance significantly declined due to the absence of new releases.

NCSoft announced on the 9th that it recorded Q3 sales of 423.1 billion KRW, operating profit of 16.5 billion KRW, and net profit of 44 billion KRW.

Sales and operating profit decreased by 30% and 89% respectively compared to the same period last year. Net profit fell by 76% year-over-year.

Sales by region were 276.4 billion KRW in Korea, 78.4 billion KRW in Asia, and 33.1 billion KRW in North America and Europe. Royalty revenue was 35.3 billion KRW. Overseas and royalty sales accounted for 35% of total sales.

Mobile game sales amounted to 273.8 billion KRW. By product, ‘Lineage M’ generated 119.6 billion KRW, ‘Lineage W’ 90.1 billion KRW, ‘Lineage 2M’ 54.9 billion KRW, and ‘Blade & Soul 2’ 9.2 billion KRW.

‘Lineage M’, which celebrated its 6th anniversary this year, maintains stable traffic through user-centered content and operations. Sales of ‘Lineage W’ and ‘Lineage 2M’ decreased by 12% and 11% respectively compared to the previous quarter, showing a slowdown in the decline. ‘Blade & Soul 2’ sales grew 116% quarter-over-quarter by expanding its global service regions including Japan and Taiwan.

PC online game sales rose 6% quarter-over-quarter to 93.2 billion KRW. Sales were 26.4 billion KRW for ‘Lineage’, 20.5 billion KRW for ‘Lineage 2’, 19.3 billion KRW for ‘Aion’, 6 billion KRW for ‘Blade & Soul’, and 21 billion KRW for ‘Guild Wars 2’.

Sales of ‘Lineage’, ‘Aion’, and ‘Blade & Soul’ increased by 9%, 22%, and 4% respectively compared to the previous quarter. ‘Guild Wars 2’ grew 9% quarter-over-quarter due to the release of its fourth expansion pack.

NCSoft will showcase its global new lineup at 'G-STAR 2023', opening on the 16th. The development status of ▲shooting game ‘LLL’ ▲brawler action ‘Battlecrush’ ▲collectible RPG ‘Project BSS’ ▲MMORTS ‘Project G’ ▲interactive adventure ‘Project M’ will be revealed. The new games introduced at G-STAR are planned to be sequentially released in the global market starting in 2024.

The new PC MMORPG ‘THRONE AND LIBERTY’ will begin domestic service on December 7.
