Pearl Abyss, which recorded an operating loss last quarter, turned to a profit in the third quarter.

Pearl Abyss announced on the 9th that it recorded consolidated third-quarter sales of 84.9 billion KRW, operating profit of 2.1 billion KRW, and net profit of 15 billion KRW.

Sales decreased by 12.7% compared to the same period last year. Operating profit decreased by 82.5% year-on-year, but turned to a profit compared to the previous quarter due to increased sales and the elimination of one-time costs such as incentives incurred last quarter. Net profit decreased by 29.6% compared to last year.

The monthly average DAU (daily active users) of 'Black Desert' increased by 36% compared to the previous quarter as the popularity of 'Land of Morning,' launched globally in June, continued. By region, it increased by 102% in Korea, 28% in North America and Europe, and 25% in Asia.

In the third quarter, 'Black Desert' added a new hunting ground with a story element called 'Ulukita.' The console and mobile versions continued their popularity by updating 'Land of Morning,' which was introduced on PC.

Pearl Abyss will strengthen live services for the 'Black Desert' and 'EVE' IPs in the fourth quarter. It plans to participate in the 'G-Star 2023' game show held on the 16th and conduct marketing for the new title 'Red Desert' targeting global partners.

Jo Seok-woo, CFO of Pearl Abyss, said, "We will strengthen the PLC (product life cycle) by providing stable live services for existing IPs," and added, "We will thoroughly prepare new titles including Red Desert to pursue mid- to long-term growth."
