Geumcheon-gu, Public-Private Cooperation for Traditional Market Fire Prevention

Geumcheon Fire Station Signs Business Agreement with Traditional Market Merchants Association for Fire Prevention... Installation of Fire Prevention Facilities such as 'Visible Fire Extinguishers' and 'Emergency Fire Hydrants' Planned for 2024

Geumcheon-gu, Public-Private Cooperation for Traditional Market Fire Prevention

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it signed a business agreement for fire prevention and safety management with Geumcheon Fire Station, traditional markets, and merchant associations on November 2.


Through this agreement, Geumcheon-gu will establish a mutually organic cooperation system for fire prevention with Geumcheon Fire Station and eight merchant associations (Nammun Market, Hyundai Market, Daemyeong Market, Doksan-dong U Market, Eunhaengnamu Market, Doksan-dong Matnaneun Street Shopping District, Jeonghun Hanmaeum Alley Market, Cheonridan-gil).


Geumcheon-gu will be responsible for the "installation and maintenance of fire prevention facilities," Geumcheon Fire Station will support "education and training for traditional market voluntary fire brigades," and the merchant associations will conduct "fire facility inspections and fire prevention activities through voluntary fire brigades."


Additionally, to strengthen disaster response capabilities, joint fire prevention training and campaigns will be promoted together.


Meanwhile, in 2024, Geumcheon-gu plans to actively cooperate with local merchants and Geumcheon Fire Station to newly install fire prevention facilities such as "visible fire extinguishers" and "emergency fire hydrants" in traditional markets and shopping districts, and to discover projects necessary for preventing fire and other safety accidents.


Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "I ask for the merchants' active participation in fire prevention activities, and the district will spare no support for this," adding, "I also ask Geumcheon Fire Station to provide ample support so that essential safety education can be conducted for the traditional market voluntary fire organizations."
