A secret urban garden that I want to keep to myself is coming to Jung-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Kim Gil-seong).
Shinsegae Namsan (Jangchungdan-ro 180), newly established near Dongdaemun Entrance Station in Jangchung-dong, will open ‘Terrace Namsan,’ a viewing space where residents can overlook the panoramic views of Namsan and the Jangchung-dong area at a glance.
By taking the dedicated elevator connected to the entrance on the first floor of Shinsegae Namsan, visitors can arrive at ‘Terrace Namsan’ on the 5th floor, where they can enjoy a relaxing break while feeling the seasonal atmosphere conveyed by Namsan.
‘Terrace Namsan’ is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and weekends. Operating hours may be flexibly adjusted depending on the season and weather.
To widely promote this space, Jung-gu and Shinsegae held a commemorative performance on the 8th. They invited performers Kim Jin-taek Trio and Animus Quartet, who are actively working in Korea, to present familiar jazz and film music. About 60 local residents attended the concert to celebrate the birth of this wonderful space.
Kim Gil-seong, Mayor of Jung-gu, said, “I am pleased that ‘Terrace Namsan,’ a ‘hidden gem with a great view’ for Jung-gu residents, has opened,” and expressed gratitude to Shinsegae Namsan for providing such a space to the residents. He also stated, “We will continue to make multifaceted efforts, including increasing collaboration with the private sector, to provide more resting spaces for the residents in the future.”
