Nam Hyun-hee Undergoes 13-Hour Police Interrogation... First Confrontation with Jeon Cheong-jo

The Seoul Songpa Police Station summoned Nam as a suspect in the fraud case and investigated her for about 13 hours starting around 10 a.m. on the 8th. During the investigation, the first confrontation with Jeon, who had previously been arrested on fraud charges, took place. The key issues in the confrontation investigation were whether Nam was aware of Jeon's crimes and whether she conspired in the offenses.

The investigation itself ended around 8 p.m. that day, but Nam took about three more hours to review the statement. Nam finished the investigation and left around 11:15 p.m. When asked by reporters about what was discussed during the confrontation investigation, she did not respond.

Nam was co-accused as an accomplice in one of the complaints filed against Jeon with the police. The complainant was a parent of a student attending the fencing academy operated by Nam, who was also confirmed to have participated in the confrontation investigation that day. After the investigation, Jeon's lawyer stated, "The victim testified that Nam was fully aware of Jeon's crimes and conspired with him," adding, "Jeon gave a similar statement." He continued, "Nam seems to express herself from the standpoint of being deceived and not knowing anything about Jeon's fraudulent acts, rather than being a victim economically," and added, "Jeon testified that Nam had already known about the fraud since March of this year."

Before the police investigation that day, Nam posted a lengthy message on her SNS expressing her grievances. Nam wrote, "I thought Jeon Cheong-jo was someone who made money through consulting, IT, lectures, and book clubs," and added, "He said he did corporate consulting and recently gave a one-hour consultation to the CEO of a famous delivery app for 50 million won."

She also stated, "I couldn't understand because his lecture fee was 30 million won. However, long text messages flooded Jeon Cheong-jo, asking him to meet just once," and "Jeon said, 'This is who I am. Among the many people who sent messages like this, I will read each message carefully and choose whom to consult.'" This implies that she was unaware that Jeon had embezzled money from lecture attendees under the pretext of investment funds. Furthermore, regarding other controversies such as Jeon's gender and impersonation of a third-generation chaebol, Nam revealed photos of Jeon's resident registration card and messenger conversations exchanged with Jeon, claiming, "I was deceived by Jeon Cheong-jo, who was false in everything except for the name."
